Helsinki
plays host
City Break 2006 exhibition to be held in Finnish
capital in June
HELSINKI is to be the location for a new exhibition
targeting the city-break sector. City Break 2006, run by Reed
Travel Exhibitions, will take place in the Finnish city on June
12-14 and will focus on this increasingly important market. Helsinki
was selected as one of the European Cities of Culture in the year
2000 and, more recently, was voted Best Scandinavian Travel Destination
at ITB in March 2005.
City Break exhibition director Mark Walsh said:
"City Break will move to a different European destination
every year, giving all delegates the opportunity to experience
a new city each time. Helsinki has been selected to host the first
event. It offers quality hotels, interesting visitor attractions,
good international access and is fast becoming a top city-break
destination."
City Break will be a business forum for city
and regional tourist boards and suppliers of city breaks. Delegates
will meet specialist city-break operators in a commercial environment
with two days of buyer-driven, pre-scheduled appointments, including
a welcome reception and gala dinner.
Exhibitors can introduce their products to prospective
buyers at a Buyer Meets Supplier session on the first day of the
show.
The event is sponsored by European Cities Tourism
and will take place prior to ECT's annual summer conference.
